RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

UNCOORDINATED COLLISIONS

"BEER PROTOCOL"

When meeting another GEN X ARMY member, protocol applies.

If one is wearing issued equipment and the other is not, the unmarked individual buys the beer.

No debate.
No hesitation.

This is established procedure.

When both are wearing issued equipment, the one who has owned it the longest holds seniority.

This cannot be verified.

Confidence is sufficient.

If neither is wearing it, the encounter remains unofficial.

STRATEGIC INFILTRATION

"SIGNAL INSERTION PROTOCOL"

Playlists remain a recognized point of entry.

Whenever control of music is obtained, signal may be inserted.

No announcement.
No explanation.

Deploy one track. Then wait.

If no reaction occurs, deploy another.

If recognition occurs, say nothing.

If the track is removed, the operation may be repeated later.

Deploy signal.
Leave the area.

If no track comes to mind, standard issue exists.

Twenty entries.
No weak links.

FIELD REPORTING

Most encounters are never documented properly.

Names disappear.
Locations become uncertain.

Details improve with every retelling.

If a story survives, it gets passed on.

Accuracy is optional.
Recognition is not.

Field observations remain under collection.
